Who We Are
Founded in 1997, Usable Solutions LLC is a professional usability and human factors consultancy, specializing in medical device, diagnostic products, and advanced technologies.
Based in the Greater Boston metro area, Usable Solutions serves the needs of clients throughout the U.S. and abroad.
The Usable Solutions team is highly skilled and trained as Human Factors Engineers (a.k.a. Engineering Psychologists), a discipline focused on designing products through the lens of understanding user capabilities, limitations, needs, and context of use.
Karen Seidler, Ph.D.
FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL
Karen has more than 25 years of experience as a usability and human factors practitioner, successfully evaluating product & system usability, conducting user research, and providing effective user-centered design solutions for advanced technology and medical products & systems.
Karen received her doctorate in Engineering Psychology at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
Prior to founding Usable Solutions, Karen was usability manager at Dow Jones Interactive, Senior Scientist at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, and a consultant at NASA-Ames.
As a wildlife biologist before beginning her career in usability, Karen observed non-human animals in the wild and zoological habitats. That experience has provided a unique set of skills that comes in handy for observing humans at work & play in their natural environments today!
