Based in New England,
Usable Solutions serves
the needs of clients
throughout the U.S.
and abroad.
The Usable Solutions
team is highly skilled
and trained as Engineering
Psychologists (a.k.a.
Human Factors Engineers),
a discipline focused
on designing products
for a positive user
experience.
Karen Seidler-Patterson,
Ph.D. is
Founder, Managing
Partner & Principal
of Usable Solutions.
She has 16 years of
experience as a usability
and human factors
practitioner –
successfully evaluating
product & system
usability, integrating
usability into companies,
and providing effective
user-centered design
solutions for consumer,
business, and industrial
products. Karen received
her doctorate in Engineering
Psychology at the
University of Illinois,
Champaign-Urbana in
1994.
Prior to founding
Usable Solutions,
Karen was responsible
for managing usability
at Dow Jones Interactive
and was Senior Scientist
at the Idaho National
Engineering Laboratory.
Before beginning
her career in usability,
Karen was a wildlife
conservation biologist,
observing non-human
animals in natural
& zoological habitats.
The skills developed
in that arena have
provided an additional
advantage in observing
people at work and
play in their natural
environments today!
